Featured investigation · five articles

KentOnline kept asking questions.

The reporting follows country-park payment disputes from 2024 through to machine trials in 2026. Start with the investigation, then read what changed.

A useful machine detail: the September 2025 follow-up quotes KCC naming Metric as its manufacturer. The Carlisle report names Flowbird for Initial Parking. Metric also lists both operators as service customers. See the supplier connection and its limits. These links do not establish a common fault.

Read the Carlisle comparison ↓
  1. January 2024ANPR enforcement and income
  2. August 2024A paid ticket and a debt demand
  3. March 2025The FOI investigation
  4. September 2025Fee disputes and the council’s response
  5. February 2026Upgraded machine trials and fresh figures

Read the reporting, then follow the evidence.

Different problems, clearly labelled. Alleged machine faults, acknowledged typing mistakes, app choices and payment deadlines are different issues. Similar receipts do not establish a common software bug.

Articles are not incident counts. Follow-ups and syndicated PA reporting can cover the same people. Related links identify these overlaps. Newspaper accounts are not findings against every operator.

A substantial collection, not a complete census. This brings together the relevant links located so far. Some articles are paywalled or unavailable; access limits are marked. Titles here are short descriptions. Dates refer to publication, not necessarily the parking event.

Official announcements, advocacy, specialist blogs and appeals guidance sit in their own section. Older advice records the position at publication; use the current original source when checking rules. The separate case register includes forum accounts and research leads that are not news articles.
